Dometic Brisk, Blizzard and Penguin ratings

Match the complete Dometic roof-unit model and control assembly to its manual before comparing current or generator size. Compressor rated-load current excludes the separately listed fan current. Locked-rotor current is another specification, not a measured startup waveform or a generator watt requirement by itself.

Add the running components without calling them a startup test

For the 2026 640315C.75X row, 12.7 A plus 2.6 A gives 15.3 A. Two such rated-load sums give 30.6 A before other RV loads. This calculation does not establish the current on your installed units under every condition.

Apply the care instructions for the installed assembly

The 2026 manual calls for at least two minutes before manually restarting its compressor and washing its return filter at least every two weeks of operation, drying it before replacement. Do not run that assembly without its specified filter.

Use air-conditioner selection and generator matching for the wider supply checks. Roof, mains and sealed-system work require the appropriate qualified service.

Compare the older Penguin row without changing its scope

The live comparison also included the September 2016 manual’s 651815.80X row: 13.1 amperes compressor rated load, 2.6 amperes fan rated load and 63 amperes locked rotor. Its running-component sum is 15.7 amperes.

These are the older model’s published quantities; they cannot replace a 2026 row with a similar family name. The linked Penguin II guide retains that document and the owner’s historical 2018 replacement quote of $1,200 for the unit plus $300 labor, or $1,500 total.

It remains a single dated quote, not a current repair estimate.

That older manual gives general generator guidance of 3.5 kilowatts for one unit and five kilowatts for two, with total RV load, altitude and condition still relevant. It does not turn locked-rotor current into a measured generator-starting requirement.

Request a present-day quote identifying roof-unit model, control compatibility, installation materials and labor. A technician’s diagnosis in the owner discussion is not proof that every instance of warm airflow has the same cause.

Preserve the distinction between identifying the installed assembly, calculating its listed running components and testing the actual supply arrangement.

The older 651815 Penguin II table and historical repair-price example have their own Dometic Penguin II: model-specific electrical ratings. Use that model-specific document rather than substituting one of these 2026 rows.
