Dometic Bluetooth CT thermostat: modes, delays and codes
On Dometic’s Bluetooth CT thermostat, interpret the displayed mode and error using the actual CT manual and connected equipment. A compressor delay or defrost interval can interrupt cooling or warm airflow without establishing a failed thermostat. Do not substitute error advice from a different Dometic controller.
Read the CT error rather than buying a part from the code
| Code | Condition described |
|---|---|
| E1 | Communication loss between CT thermostat and module; system shuts down |
| E2 | Indoor temperature sensor open/out of range; heat/cool locked out |
| E3 | Indoor temperature sensor shorted; heat/cool locked out |
| E4 | Outdoor sensor open/out of range on select models; heat pump locked out |
| E5 | Freeze sensor open/out of range; air-conditioning mode locked out |
The Dometic CT operating manual identifies the circuit condition, not one guaranteed failed component. Record the full model, mode and recurring error for service. A sensor bypass removes a protective function; a reset is not proof the underlying condition has been repaired.
Separate a normal delay from an unresolved manual discrepancy
The manual describes an approximately two-minute compressor delay. A call for cooling at an assumed 2:00 pm can therefore have its compressor start around 2:02 rather than immediately. This is an explanation of the stated delay, not a promise that every no-start will resolve in two minutes.
Page 23 describes heat-pump defrost below about 42°F and lockout below 30°F. The later outdoor-coil note also describes compressor shutoff below 42°F. Do not select a universal cutoff from those differing descriptions: confirm the actual rooftop model and applicable instructions with Dometic for a borderline-temperature complaint.
The original owner report used a different controller
In a March 2022 Heartland thread, a 2017 Landmark owner described ten-button dual thermostats, E1 then E5, and faint displays after sensor replacement. The owner reported 4.5 V at particular communication wires and asked whether that was correct; the post did not establish a completed diagnosis.
That is not evidence that Bluetooth CT E5 means low battery voltage or that the same replacement part fits both systems. Use its symptom history as a reason to identify equipment and check the full installation through qualified service, not to copy live-voltage tests.
Keep the touch surface dry and follow its cleaning instructions. For a different controller, use CCC2 guidance; for the roof equipment use Dometic model ratings.
