Ratings, measurements and examples

Read the labels and documents for the exact vehicle or appliance. A product name or year can cover different configurations. Worked examples state assumptions and do not establish a specification for your equipment.

For example, an assumed 7600-lb rating minus 6100-lb documented starting weight leaves 1500 lb before additions. Changing what the starting weight includes changes what must still be counted. The arithmetic cannot inspect axle loading or hidden damage.

Calculator scope and processing

Each calculator page describes its inputs, version and limitations. The script performs arithmetic on the device; the fallback form submits entries to this site’s server. Do not enter identifying information in calculation fields.

A calculator result does not override an applicable vehicle rating, equipment instruction or legal requirement. Resolve conflicting information with the relevant manufacturer or authority; there is no universal rule that a label makes a regulation irrelevant.
