RV warranties compared: scope and transfer
Compare RV warranties by the covered assembly, time and mileage limits, eligible owner and use, maintenance requirements and repair procedure. A longer advertised structural term does not necessarily cover the fault you are concerned about. Use the exact product and purchase-date document.
Start with the layer and the owner
| Maker/program | Comparison point | Detailed guide |
|---|---|---|
| Grand Design towables | 1-year base, 3-year structural, 5-year frame; transfer announcement | Original-date periods and source-wording conflict |
| Keystone | 1-year base; 3-year structural page describes transfer | Defined assemblies and original-period remainder |
| Jayco towables | 2-year limited/3-year structural; first consumer purchaser | Separate motorhome/chassis terms |
| Forest River | Product and retail-date forms, including June 2026 OGV form | Towable, motorized and OGV are not interchangeable |
| Thor Motor Coach 2026 | A/C layered periods; B 24 months/30,000 miles | Class-specific inspection/use/ownership conditions |

One used purchase can produce different results
For an assumed resale two years after original delivery, a transferable three-year period would have one calendar year remaining. A first-purchaser-only promise would not become available merely because its calendar period is unfinished. Mileage, required records, registration and exclusions still need checking.
Read the relevant maker guide
A chassis or appliance can have separate coverage from the coach builder. An optional service contract and a safety recall also follow different terms and procedures. Keep the applicable documents together and verify the particular VIN rather than ranking warranties solely by the biggest year number.
Compare a repair claim instead of the headline term
Take one concern from the inspection and ask each warranty issuer which provision would apply. A damaged slide wall, its drive motor and a leak around an opening can raise different coverage questions even though they sit in the same part of the RV.
Request the issued wording, owner eligibility and authorization procedure. For a used purchase, make a separate column for coverage that remains eligible for that owner.
A warranty comparison is then a check of that proposed repair and owner, rather than a ranking by the largest printed year count.
