Keystone warranty: base, structure and transfer

Keystone describes one-year base and three-year structural limited warranties starting with the first retail purchase. Structural coverage concerns defined assemblies, not every repair on the RV. Its structural owner page also describes transfer to subsequent purchasers within the original three-year period.

A slide box and its drive are different parts

The structural coverage page lists the main steel frame and support members, walls, floors, roofs, fiberglass caps and slide-out box structures. A slide box’s wall or floor is different from the motor or mechanism moving it. Identify the failed part and cause before assuming it belongs to the structural scope.

Questions to ask about a Keystone repair
Observed problemCoverage question
Slide will not moveIs the fault in a drive, control or box structure?
Water-damaged floorWhat caused it, and which exclusions apply?
Frame concernWhich frame or attached component is affected?
Appliance failureWhich issued coach or supplier terms apply?

A transferred period is still the original period

Keystone’s structural page says later owners can submit the VIN, contact details and purchase proof for transfer. For an assumed original purchase on October 18, 2024 and resale on October 18, 2026, two of the stated three years have elapsed. Transfer would not create another full three-year period.

Base coverage and maintenance remain separate

The base-warranty page covers qualifying manufacturing and assembly defects for recreational camping use and excludes routine maintenance, wear and damage from misuse or improper care. Obtain the full warranty guide for the unit and preserve maintenance and service records.

Describe the symptom to the dealer and retain dated findings and correspondence. If unresolved, use Keystone customer service and the notice provisions in the issued guide. Do not assume that a scheduled repair or parts delay automatically extends the original term.

A used-owner claim starts with the original sale

Keep the transfer request and the original first-retail-sale evidence in the same file. A later buyer needs to establish both eligibility and the remaining period; the trailer’s badge year alone answers neither.

If a slide problem appears, record whether the concern is the box structure, the moving mechanism or another component before describing it as structural. The distinction can change which provision is relevant.

An itemized dealer diagnosis also lets Keystone review the actual proposed repair instead of a general statement that the slide does not work.
