Flagstaff and Rockwood folding camper checks

For Flagstaff or Rockwood folding campers, compare closed dimensions, deployed beds and the exact unit’s load labels. Similar A-frame or tent-camper plan numbers do not establish identical equipment or cargo allowance. A low unloaded hitch figure alone does not qualify a small car or SUV to tow one.

T12ST2,120 lb1,164 lbRoof closed: 5 ft 1 in18 ft 4 inThe lightest camper in this brochure comparison has the greatest listed cargo allowance and the lowest closed roof.
T21HS2,728 lb577 lbRoof closed: 5 ft 8 in20 ft 4 inThis is the heaviest listed unloaded model and the longest closed body; its carrying allowance is the smallest of these three.
T21HSB2,523 lb767 lbRoof closed: 5 ft 8 in18 ft 5 inThe roof height matches T21HS but the closed length is shorter. Keep its distinct model suffix when asking about brochure and current-label differences.

The 2026 brochure gives the T12ST more carrying allowance than the heavier T21HS. Measure the garage door and the highest roof accessory on the camper. A quoted body width does not prove the vehicle will clear a door track, sloping approach or stored roof load.

Watch for different source editions

The manufacturer’s floorplan print listing gives T21HSB 2,528 lb UVW and 837 lb cargo allowance, different from the brochure above. Use the label on the trailer being sold rather than combining one edition’s lighter weight with another edition’s higher allowance.

For a T21HS with a label confirming 577 lb available, assumed additions of 300 lb leave 277 lb before the remaining equipment and water. The storage trunk’s volume does not increase that allowance.

Open the camper before buying

Raise the roof and deploy beds, dormers and supports on level ground as instructed by the model’s manual. Check fabric or hard-side seals, latches, lift operation and evidence of wet storage. For a Rockwood counterpart, verify its own model-year sheet rather than transferring these Flagstaff numbers.

Inspect the folding body in both configurations

Storage fit is a closed-camper measurement; usable accommodation is a deployed-camper measurement. Test both with the seller.

Check that supports, latches and seals are present and that the roof follows its prescribed sequence without binding. A larger front storage trunk can change the temptation to pack heavily without increasing the label’s carrying allowance.

Retain the specific Flagstaff brochure edition with the unit’s label so an older T21HSB listing is not compared with a newer plan by borrowing whichever specification is more attractive.
