Aliner and Northwood camper choices

A folding Aliner and a fixed-body Northwood trailer solve different storage and campsite needs. Compare the closed camper’s measured height with the garage opening, then check loaded weight and tongue demand against the tow vehicle. A compact exterior or an unloaded brochure weight alone does not qualify a car to tow it.

Ranger 10: measure the garage opening

The Ranger 10 specification gives 13 ft overall length, 78 in width and 62 in closed height. It lists 1,300 lb dry weight, 175 lb dry hitch and 3,000 lb GVWR. A full Ranger tank contributes 11 × 8.34 = 91.74 pounds of water; allow about 92 pounds in the packing calculation.

The 78-inch opening in this example is an assumed measurement, not a standard garage size. Measure your actual door, track, driveway transition and the camper’s highest installed accessory. A lift kit or roof equipment can change the clearance.

Fixed-body Northwood trailers are a different towing class

An archived Northwood Nash 17K sheet gives 7,400 lb GVWR. Keep that source edition separate from a current trailer’s label. Northwood’s Nash, Arctic Fox and other families include fixed-body trailers, fifth wheels and truck campers; a line name is insufficient to identify the coupling or truck requirement.

Exercise the folding joints during an inspection

In an Aliner owner discussion, one 2018 owner reported no water leaks but cold entering where walls meet the roof on nights below 30°F. Another described a leak and emphasized leveling and secured latches. These individual reports support an inspection of joint fit in the opened camper rather than a claim that every Aliner leaks.

Operate the roof, dormers and latches on the actual unit. Ask the seller to identify previous seal repairs and inspect interior corners for stains. Aliner also sells the fixed-body Ascape; the folding procedure and storage dimensions are model-specific.
