Furrion FCR08/FCR10: runtime, temperatures and travel
For Furrion FCR08DCGTA and FCR10DCGTA refrigerators, use the actual manual, measured cabinet temperature and loaded electrical supply. The published battery runtime is conditional. The supplied Storage Lock props the door open for storage; it is not a travel lock and must be removed for transport.
The manual’s runtime is not constant 11-amp operation
The Furrion instruction manual lists an 11-A rating at startup and maximum cooling, and typical off-grid runtimes on a 100-Ah battery of 49 hours at 77°F and 31 hours at 90°F. Do not use the 11-A figure as a measured all-day average.
| Manual condition | Published runtime |
|---|---|
| 100-Ah battery, 77°F ambient | 49 hours |
| 100-Ah battery, 90°F ambient | 31 hours |
The difference is 18 hours, about 37% of the 49-hour figure. The manual also makes runtime dependent on battery condition, settings, food and door openings. It does not promise that your available 100-Ah bank will repeat either result alongside the RV’s other loads.
The dial’s middle setting can be above the recommended range
The manual recommends 36–40°F fresh-food storage but its ideal-condition dial example lists 43.7°F at MID. That is 3.7°F above its own recommended upper value. Use an appliance thermometer and the actual conditions; a middle dial position is not proof food is safely cold.
Owner symptoms do not prove one failed part
In the Forest River discussion, one owner reported lights working but cooling restored only after a fuse replacement. Another said a dealer found loose connections. These are separate reports, not evidence that every intermittent refrigerator needs a board or a fuse.
Record whether the fault occurs on battery, shore power or while the compressor starts, and give those observations to qualified service. Do not probe unidentified wiring or repeatedly move loose energized connections. The manual reserves control-board and compressor-drive service for a qualified professional.
Storage and travel require different door conditions
Use the manual’s Storage Lock to hold the emptied, dried unit ajar during storage, then remove it before traveling and secure the normal latch. The manual’s long-trip shutdown guidance also says to avoid traveling with food in the cabinet; do not switch a food-loaded fridge off and assume it will remain safe.
Resolve an alternative cold-food arrangement when power must be off. Continue with refrigerator selection and food-temperature checks and battery and solar energy budget.
