Heartland and KZ trailer choices

Compare Heartland and KZ by the trailer form and the actual unit’s load allowance. Both belong to THOR, but shared ownership does not establish the same construction, service channel or warranty. A KZ Connect Mini is a travel trailer; Durango fifth wheels require a bed-mounted hitch and a separate pin-load calculation.

Connect Mini: a small trailer with a limited allowance

KZ’s current CM191BHK sheet lists 4,160 lb UVW, 550 lb dry hitch weight, 640 lb CCC and 4,800 lb GVWR. KZ calls the unloaded figures rolling averages and says options change the trailer’s weight. Read the yellow label on the unit being offered.

Thirty-six gallons of fresh water weigh about 300 lb at 8.34 lb per gallon. Against 640 lb CCC, that leaves about 340 lb for other additions counted against the allowance. This example does not establish the loaded tongue weight or prove that a particular SUV has enough payload.

CM191BHK cargo allowance with a full fresh tankOf the published 640 pound cargo allowance, about 300 pounds is fresh water and about 340 pounds remains for other counted additions. This does not measure loaded tongue weight.Published CCC: 640 lbWater: about 300 lbOther additions: about 340 lb
Budget the water fill before packing bedding, food and outdoor equipment; installed options and the actual cargo label still govern the available allowance.

Compare equivalent trailer forms

Heartland’s North Trail, Prowler and Sundance travel-trailer names should be compared with the relevant KZ Connect or Sportsmen configuration. For fifth wheels, compare the specific Bighorn, Milestone or Sundance against Durango, Durango Gold or Ridgeway. Sportster X and Cyclone toy-hauler comparisons also need garage, ramp and tie-down limits.

THOR announced Heartland’s integration under Jayco on March 19, 2025. Ask which service organization handles the exact model year. Do not apply KZ’s owner manual or a Jayco warranty booklet to a Heartland simply because the parent company is shared.

Compare the actual bunkhouse load before the sales package

For the CM191BHK example, the available allowance after full fresh water is a particularly important question for a family packing bedding, food and outdoor equipment. Ask which installed options are reflected in the actual cargo label. A truck capable of pulling the trailer can still have insufficient payload for people, hitch hardware and loaded tongue demand.

A Heartland candidate needs its own equivalent record before it can be compared with the KZ example. Match the body type and intended use first, then compare the documents rather than transferring the Connect Mini’s arithmetic to another brand. The Jayco integration notice is a support-routing fact; it is not evidence that a Heartland and a KZ have the same construction, warranties or carrying allowance.
