Forest River specialty towables and load checks

Forest River’s specialty towables serve different camping tasks. Lost Pines and other destination layouts need site and delivery planning; Roo hybrids need space for deployed beds; Campsite Ice adds fishing-specific use; toy haulers need separate garage and ramp checks. “Small line” does not mean a small or lightly loaded trailer.

The 397STORE sheet identifies a travel-trailer version. The Rogue Store family page also describes fifth-wheel forms, so confirm the actual coupling. Its hinged rear wall and garage use do not establish a floor or ramp load rating.

Using the sheet’s 8.3 lb per gallon, 96 gallons of fresh water add about 797 lb. That leaves about 1,489 lb of the published carrying allowance before other additions. Toys, loose equipment and supplies must fit the remaining allowance as well as the garage’s separate limits.

Match the format to the campsite

For Lost Pines or Westbrook, measure the delivered height, length, slide clearance and utility positions. Grand Surveyor, Surveyor Camp and Ibex New Trail require floorplan-specific loading checks; a package name does not identify a single weight class. Campsite Elite needs loaded pin demand checked against truck payload.

For Puma Ambush or Aurora toy haulers, measure the actual toy with accessories and verify floor, ramp and tie-down limits. For Rockwood Roo, check tent-end supports, seals and room to deploy the beds. Obtain the exact model’s instructions rather than applying the Rogue Store example to another family.

The garage and campsite need their own measurements

For the Rogue Store candidate, confirm that the actual toy fits in its restrained travel position and that the rear opening can be operated in the planned space. A remaining trailer carrying allowance does not establish how much load a ramp or garage floor accepts.

For a destination layout, use the delivered exterior dimensions and deployed slides to check the intended site. These checks explain why the families belong in a use-based comparison while still requiring their own model instructions before loading or setup.

A destination-trailer visit needs room to demonstrate the intended configuration. Ask the seller to open the slides and show utility connections, rear access and any garage conversion in the positions intended for the stay.

Photograph the model and component labels while they are accessible. If a camping layout and a toy-hauler layout look similar in an online photograph, check the approved use and rated load of the rear area rather than infer them from the furniture.

For a Roo, inspect the deployed tent ends and supports; for a Rogue Store, identify the specific travel-trailer or fifth-wheel coupling. Those observations resolve different fitting questions before a delivery or towing arrangement is booked.
