Fleetwood and Holiday Rambler diesel load checks

Compare Fleetwood and Holiday Rambler diesel pushers by the exact chassis and floorplan. Discovery, Discovery LXE, Frontier and Palisade names do not establish one weight or towing rating; neither do the related Endeavor, Armada and Nautica names. Use the actual coach’s gross, axle, combined and receiver limits.

Discovery LXE: two chassis groups in one family

The 2027 Discovery LXE guide gives the 40-foot-plan group a 380 hp engine and 1,150 lb-ft torque. The 44B and 44S use 450 hp and 1,250 lb-ft, with a tag axle. These are source-edition examples, not ratings for a Discovery or a Holiday Rambler with a similar length.

Water and towing use different allowances

The guide lists a 105-gallon fresh tank. Filling the Discovery’s 105-gallon fresh tank puts 105 × 8.34 = 875.7 pounds of water aboard. That load belongs in the coach’s actual weight and axle totals; 105 gallons of empty tank volume is not extra cargo capacity.

For a hypothetical 40M weighing 35,500 lb travel-ready, 46,600 lb GCWR leaves 11,100 lb of arithmetic margin. The guide’s 10,000 lb receiver rating caps a towed load below that margin, before any other restrictions. The 1,000 lb tongue limit also needs its own check.

Inspect the chassis and house separately

Ask for engine, transmission, cooling and suspension service records as well as house-system repairs. Check tires and each axle’s loaded weight. For Endeavor, Armada, Nautica, Frontier or Palisade, obtain that model’s own documents; do not use this LXE table as a substitute.

Used diesel slide-raceway recall

Recall 19V-861, bulletin 191126REV addresses routing of wiring and plumbing through a moving underfloor slide raceway on specified 2020 diesel motorhomes, including Discovery LXE and Endeavor. Damage in that raceway can affect electrical, plumbing or propane equipment and create a fire risk.

The bulletin gives model-specific affected-unit information. Check the actual VIN and repair record; it is not a recall assertion about every 2027 coach in the rating comparison above. Leave the recall inspection and remedy to the responsible service provider.
