Yellowstone and Grand Teton RV campground limits
For Yellowstone, compare the measured RV-and-vehicle combination with the booked campground and site limits. For Grand Teton, distinguish ordinary electric sites from full-hookup RV parks. Neither park permits using an ordinary parking lot as an overnight campsite; check the site’s stated total vehicle length.
Yellowstone: combined vehicle lengths
NPS’s campground comparison publishes the following maximum combined RV and vehicle lengths. These are campground maxima; check the actual site before reserving. Large-site inventory and access can be more restrictive.
| Campground | Maximum | Booking route |
|---|---|---|
| Bridge Bay | 60 feet | Yellowstone National Park Lodges |
| Canyon | 40 feet | Yellowstone National Park Lodges |
| Fishing Bridge RV Park | 95 feet | Yellowstone National Park Lodges |
| Grant Village | 50 feet | Yellowstone National Park Lodges |
| Madison | 60 feet | Yellowstone National Park Lodges |
| Indian Creek | 35 feet | Recreation.gov |
| Lewis Lake | 25 feet | Recreation.gov |
| Slough Creek | 30 feet | Recreation.gov |
| Tower Fall | 30 feet | Recreation.gov |
A measured 45-foot combination exceeds Canyon’s 40-foot maximum by five feet. Checking only the trailer’s body length would miss that conflict. Select a qualifying campsite elsewhere and verify the route before booking.
Fishing Bridge is Yellowstone’s only campground with full water, sewer and 50-amp hookups and is restricted to hard-sided units. Its seasonal operation does not make it a winter alternative.
Mammoth’s winter fit is a separate question
Mammoth’s dedicated campground page describes year-round operation, summer reservations and winter first-come service. In winter it limits total vehicle length to 30 feet. Confirm the current booking transition and actual available space rather than assuming a summer site works in snow season.
Grand Teton: electric is not full hookup
Grand Teton’s camping comparison distinguishes Gros Ventre, Colter Bay Campground and Signal Mountain’s electric sites from the full-hookup spaces at Colter Bay RV Park and Headwaters. Jenny Lake is tent-only. Reserve the actual facility, not another campground with a similar name.
| Campground | Maximum RV length |
|---|---|
| Gros Ventre | 45 feet |
| Colter Bay Campground | 45 feet |
| Signal Mountain | 30 feet |
| Lizard Creek | 30 feet |
| Headwaters | 45 feet |
Grand Teton limits stays to seven days at Jenny Lake, fourteen at its other campgrounds and thirty days total in the park per year. Fourteen nights followed by another fourteen elsewhere total twenty-eight; only two remain under that annual cap, assuming no earlier nights.
Check each campground’s seasonal dates, site dimensions, facilities and cancellation terms. Gros Ventre should not be treated as a year-round RV base. Plan food storage, water and waste capacity under the selected campground’s current rules.
