Joshua Tree, Death Valley and Rainier RV campsites
These parks require different RV plans: Joshua Tree has no campground hookups, Death Valley’s Furnace Creek has a small full-hookup section, and Mount Rainier separates RV and trailer length limits. Check the specific site and current opening status before paying.
Joshua Tree: combined length and limited water points
Joshua Tree’s campground guidance caps combined vehicle length at 25 feet for Hidden Valley and White Tank. Belle permits up to 35 feet, with many sites fitting only 25–30 feet. Other campground sites need their own dimensions checked.
| Location or service | Limit |
|---|---|
| Hidden Valley and White Tank | 25-foot combined vehicle limit |
| Belle | Up to 35 feet; many spaces 25–30 feet |
| Campground hookups | None |
| RV fill and dump | Black Rock and Cottonwood |
| Generator windows | 7–9 a.m.; noon–2 p.m.; 5–7 p.m. |
With an assumed measured combination length of 29 feet, a 25-foot limit is exceeded by four feet. A trailer body shorter than 25 feet does not resolve that combined-length restriction. Check seasonal closures and the selected site’s usable space.
Death Valley: distinguish the full-hookup section
Death Valley lists 18 full-hookup sites at Furnace Creek, each with water, sewer and 30/50-amp service. Its reservation season is October 15–April 15; reservations require at least two days’ advance notice. Availability and individual site dimensions still govern.
Furnace Creek’s pedestals do not support EV charging. Do not infer that another campground has hookups from Furnace Creek’s facilities, or treat the reservation season as a promise that every park campground is open.
Mount Rainier: a trailer has a different limit
| Campground | RV | Trailer |
|---|---|---|
| Cougar Rock | 35 feet | 27 feet |
| Ohanapecosh | 32 feet | 27 feet |
| White River | 27 feet | 18 feet |
The Rainier page updated October 13, 2026 reports Cougar Rock and White River closed for the season and Ohanapecosh closed for 2026 rehabilitation. It reports no hookups or available dump stations; Cougar Rock’s RV fill is closed. Those are dated conditions, not next season’s schedule.
A 28-foot trailer exceeds Cougar Rock’s 27-foot trailer cap by one foot, even though it is below the separate 35-foot RV cap. Use the correct vehicle category and the specific campsite’s dimensions.
Rainier’s generator windows are 8–10 a.m., noon–2 p.m. and 5–7 p.m.; Loop E at Cougar Rock and Ohanapecosh prohibits generator use. White River has no cellular service, so download the payment app before arrival when using Scan and Pay.
For any of these parks, preserve a permitted alternative if the reserved space, road or services do not meet the RV’s needs. A campground-wide maximum does not establish that every campsite fits it.
