New RV delivery: walkthrough and defect list
At new-RV delivery, match the actual unit to the agreement, complete an operating walkthrough and record defects and untested equipment. Obtain manuals, keys, warranty-registration confirmation and the repair arrangement. A dealer pre-delivery check does not answer every question about operating your RV.
Match the delivered unit before demonstrating it
Compare VIN, model year, floorplan, options and included accessories with the agreement. Photograph the vehicle certification label and the unit’s cargo information. Use installed labels and equipment rather than a generic listing.
The 2026 Jay Flight SLX 175BH sheet lists 22 ft 1 in overall length. Against an assumed 22-foot usable parking space, that is already one inch too long before any required clearance or added equipment. Confirm actual fit and route access before driving away.
Demonstrate the installed systems
| Area | Ask the technician to demonstrate |
|---|---|
| Power and appliances | Power sources, controls and installed operating modes |
| Water and waste | Filling, supply selection, permitted tests and disposal procedure |
| Slides, leveling and awning | Required setup conditions, travel positions and recovery instructions |
| Travel equipment | Hitch/controller arrangement, lights and required checks |
| Safety equipment | Locations, test procedure and replacement instructions |
Do not request propane operation from an electric-only refrigerator or fill plumbing during unsafe freezing conditions. Record any unavailable test and arrange how it will be resolved. Follow each installed system’s instructions rather than repeatedly cycling it without need.
Make the unresolved list usable after leaving
For each issue record its location, symptom, photograph, date and the dealer’s proposed response. Distinguish cosmetic damage, failed operation and an untested feature. Agree who will handle it and the relevant contact and appointment arrangement.
Jayco’s buyer FAQ describes factory checks followed by dealer inspection after transport and acknowledges that issues may appear later. That does not guarantee that every new-unit fault is covered or make the walkthrough a substitute for an independent inspection.
Review deposit, acceptance and repair provisions in your purchase agreement before signing. Retain the signed paperwork and registration receipt; do not assume every buyer has the same cancellation right.
