Small RVs and garage fit: measure the whole unit
A small RV fits a garage only if its actual travel height, width, overall length and approach clear the usable opening and interior. Include roof equipment and other additions. A low dry weight or short body does not establish loaded towing compatibility.
Two small campers have very different travel heights
Aliner lists the Classic’s closed height at 64 inches. Scamp’s 13-foot specifications list 7 ft 6 in to the trailer top and 8 ft 7 in to the top of air conditioning for the applicable standard configuration. Verify the exact options and year.
| Configuration | Listed height | Arithmetic clearance |
|---|---|---|
| Aliner Classic, closed | 64 in | 20 in below opening |
| Scamp 13 applicable A/C configuration | 103 in | 19 in above opening |
The Aliner comparison leaves vertical room on paper, not guaranteed clearance on a sloped driveway or beneath tracks and fixtures. The air-conditioned Scamp example exceeds that assumed opening even though it is a small trailer.
Bathroom and bed fit are separate decisions
Inspect the actual layout for shower, toilet, headroom and bed dimensions. Scamp’s 13-foot layouts demonstrate that bathroom choices can exist below a claimed universal seventeen-foot minimum. A wet bath shares shower/toilet space; assess how the specific arrangement works for you.
Small does not establish a tow match
Use the unit’s loaded weight, measured tongue load and ratings with the tow vehicle’s limits. A 3,000 or 5,000 lb category does not establish compatibility with every SUV or half-ton pickup. Cargo, hitch equipment and passengers can govern the combination.
Before buying, measure the actual camper and storage space and confirm home-parking rules. A specification is a starting point; aftermarket roof equipment, carriers, tires or lift packages can alter the dimensions. Arrange alternative storage if the access route or opening will not accommodate the RV.
