Tiffin identification and coach-label checks
Identify a Tiffin by the exact model, year, chassis and completed-vehicle labels. A Wayfarer, Allegro Bus and Zephyr have different load and service requirements; Zephyr is not an entry-level gas coach. Use the actual unit’s ratings and maintenance file when comparing towing capacity or planning a repair.
Wayfarer 2026: read the chassis footnote
A 2026 Wayfarer on the 3500 chassis has 11,030 lb GVWR; the higher listed configuration is 12,125 lb. The manufacturer gives 15,250 lb GCWR for the configurations in that table. Confirm the actual vehicle label before applying a rating.
With an assumed 11,200 lb loaded coach, the 11,030 lb limit would be exceeded by 170 lb. The 12,125 lb limit would leave 925 lb of gross-weight margin. These are comparisons against a stated hypothetical load, not measured carrying capacities for the two builds.
Check towing and tank capacities by floorplan
The table gives a 5,000 lb receiver with 500 lb vertical limit and says towing is subject to GCWR. Its 25XLW, 25XRW and 25XPW list 32 gallons fresh while 25RW lists 30. That two-gallon difference is about 17 lb of water, but neither tank size establishes the remaining occupant-and-cargo allowance.
A receiver label cannot override a lower combined-weight margin or axle limit. Retain the chassis and coach operating instructions and verify the proposed towed vehicle’s own procedure.
Tiffin service and recall documents
Use Tiffin’s recall lookup and owner manuals. Match the VIN and build information shown on the documents instead of assuming there must be two separate vehicle VINs.
Resolve the chassis configuration before negotiating a tow setup
The hypothetical 11,200-pound coach is already too heavy for the lower stated Wayfarer GVWR, regardless of the size of the receiver. A different chassis configuration changes that comparison, but a sales description cannot establish which label is on the vehicle in front of you.
Photograph the completed-vehicle and receiver labels together. For an Allegro Bus or Zephyr, start again with its own records.
Transferring the Wayfarer calculation would conceal both the different axle requirements and the different service work a buyer must budget.
