Newmar motorhome class and load comparisons
Newmar Bay Star is a gas Class A; Super Star is a diesel Super C. Compare the exact chassis and floorplan before applying weights or towing figures. Luxury tier names are insufficient to establish vehicle class, and a repeated floorplan number can appear in different model groups or years.
Two documented 2026 configurations
| Item | Bay Star 3826 | Super Star 4140 |
|---|---|---|
| Chassis | Ford 7.3 L gas | Freightliner M2-112 diesel |
| GVWR | 26,000 lb | 41,200 lb |
| GCWR | 30,000 lb | 60,000 lb |
| Approximate UVW | 22,850 lb | 34,500 lb |
| Approximate NCC | 3,150 lb | 6,700 lb |
| Receiver trailer / vertical | 5,000 / 500 lb | 20,000 / 2,000 lb |
The 3826 sheet and 4140 sheet describe separate coaches. Approximate unloaded and carrying figures are not loaded scale results. Retain the model names alongside any copied specification.
A receiver rating can exceed the combined-weight margin
For an assumed 25,500 lb loaded Bay Star, 30,000 lb GCWR leaves 4,500 lb arithmetic margin. Its 5,000 lb receiver cannot override that lower result. At a full 26,000 lb coach load, only 4,000 lb remain under GCWR.
An optioned MSRP is another configuration document
A manufacturer invoice sheet for a 2026 Bay Star 3114, unit 142175, lists $263,900 base plus $25,250 options for $289,150 suggested retail. The document explicitly calls it Class A and identifies a Ford 24,000 lb chassis. That is another configuration, not the 3826 in the weight table or an actual transaction price.
King Aire, Essex, London Aire, Mountain Aire, Summit Aire, New Aire, Dutch Star, Ventana, Northern Star, Canyon Star, Grand Star, Bay Star Sport, Supreme Aire and Freedom Aire require their own model-year sheets. Do not classify them from their position in a website menu.
For a used coach, obtain individual wheel or axle weights, service records and VIN recall status. An ownership change cannot establish warranty expiry or recall completion on its own.
