Coachmen lightweight trailer checks
Apex Nano, Remote and Freedom Express include several different trailer sizes despite their lightweight descriptions. Match a floorplan’s loaded ratings and measured tongue demand to the tow vehicle. An unloaded marketing threshold, a series name or an SUV recommendation cannot replace the truck and receiver checks.
Selected weight examples keep their source edition
| Source/model | UVW | GVWR | Published hitch | Published added-load allowance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Apex Nano 187RB | 3,420 lb | 4,700 lb | 436 lb | 1,280 lb |
| 2026 Apex Nano 203RBK | 4,158 lb | 6,000 lb | 530 lb | 1,842 lb |
| 2026 Apex Nano 228BHS | 4,632 lb | 6,000 lb | 536 lb | 1,368 lb |
| Freedom Express Select 19SE listing | 4,380 lb | 6,000 lb | 428 lb | 1,620 lb |
The 2026 Apex brochure and 19SE specification use the unloaded basis stated by their publisher. Read the unit’s yellow label for its installed options. The 2026 Remote flyer describes the narrower Remote family and its equipment; compare its own floorplan sheet rather than carrying an Apex figure across to it.
Fresh water changes the remaining allowance
The 19SE listing gives a 52-gallon fresh tank. At 8.34 lb per gallon, full water adds about 434 lb, leaving about 1,186 lb of its published 1,620 lb carrying allowance for the other added items. Check the label’s included LP and equipment basis before deducting them again.
A loaded-tongue report is different from a brochure hitch figure
An Apex Nano 228BHS owner reported a tongue-scale reading near 800 lb, compared with a dealer figure of 598 lb. That individual report describes a different configuration from the brochure examples. Use your own loaded measurement with the batteries, LP and travel supplies aboard.
For an example truck with 1,300 lb of payload, an 800 lb tongue load leaves 500 lb before the hitch hardware and any occupants or cargo absent from the payload calculation. A travel trailer’s floor space says little about that remaining truck allowance.
